DEMOGRAPHIC/ECONOMIC DATA

The First Tennessee Development District gathers and maintains demographic and economic data on the counties and communities in our 8 county region. This information is published in FACTS, a pocket sized booklet of statistics on the region, and in the City and County Economic Profiles. Economic Profiles are available for Bristol, Johnson City, Kingsport and for each of the 8 counties in our region by contacting the FTDD. Economic Profiles are available on-line at the FTDD level and the Johnson City, Kingsport, Bristol, TN/VA MSA level.

The Directory of Manufacturers, a regional directory of manufacturers in Northeast Tennessee, Southwest Virginia and western North Carolina, is published every other year. Other publications include:

  • Historical Data Profiles - Historical data on population, employment, retail sales, travel expenditures and housing construction activity by county.
  • Four State Trade Area Survey - Population, labor force, retail sales, effective buying income and travel expenditure data for counties in Northeast Tennessee, Southwest Virginia, western North Carolina and Southeast Kentucky.
  • County Census Tract Profiles - County population, household, gender, race and median household income census data broken down to the census tract level.
